Progress Ahead Depends on Americans Rejecting Trump and his Nightmare “Project 2025”

TEXAS – Today President Biden announced he will be a one-term president, and will no longer run for reelection. Biden is a member of a long line of protectors of democracy. As he stands down and endorses his partner, Vice President Kamala Harris, for the presidency, he puts the people over his presidency, saying “it's time to come together and beat Trump.”

President Biden and Vice President Harris delivered more than $454 billion for more than 57,000 projects on historic infrastructure investments, from roads to high-speed internet, and produced historic environmental gains in their Build Back Better plan, which included $375 billion in financial incentives for clean energy, investing in our futures, and making it easier to breathe in 2025 onward.

“The choice is clear: you can vote for stability and a future of progress for all Americans, or a descent into dictatorship,” said Advocacy Associate Tatum Owens. “The Biden-Harris team stands as a strong symbol of the importance of nonviolent transfers of power that are a vital component of healthy democracies. Their term must be succeeded by an administration that will protect our voting power; in stark contrast, Project 2025 ensures there will be a concentrated effort led by Trump to derail democracy and install authoritarianism, including a deadly national abortion ban, with swift action on Day One if he’s elected.”

“In a matter of months, Americans can and must continue the path forward of progress, and reject another chaotic and corrupt Trump administration focused on retribution, surrounded by extremists who want to turn back the clock on our abortion and civil rights, our environment, on public education, and every sacred part of our American way of life,” said Kathleen Thompson, Progress Texas Executive Director.
