After 30 years of trying - against the members of their own party, and certainly in spite of public opinion - the Republican dream of taxpayer-funded kickbacks to wealthy Texas families to subsidize their private schools is on the edge of becoming reality. How have our public schools gone from being seen as the backbone of many Texas communities, to being a scrap heap to be dismantled and sold off? What's the next move for Texas Democrats? And, how should Texas voters respond? The PT staff gathers to try our best to make sense of a tragically nonsensical situation.
