All of a sudden it's getting hard to be a conservative elected official in Texas.

If 2010 can be described as the year of Tea Party outrage, 2012 is quickly shaping up as a year of progressive outrage. Don't believe me? Look no further than August town hall meetings in Texas.

Congressmen Quico Canseco, Joe Barton and Jeb Hensarling, co-char of the new super committee that is charged with cutting $1.5 trillion from the federal deficit by November, have all had tough town halls recently. Representative Hensarling has even been canceling town halls to avoid answering questions and being held accountable for his positions.

The San Antonio Express News describes Canseco's meeting with the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and his lack of interest in talking with citizens in his district.

They went on to actually talk to people in the crowd and listen to their concerns.

One such shows the peril of a cuts only approach.

“I want him to know that I'm a senior citizen, my wife and I,” said the Rev. Ysidro Solis, 73. “It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if he takes away our Medicare, we're gone.”

KSAT News in San Antonio goes one step further highlight how Canseco has been avoiding talking with citizens and refusing to accept community meetings. You can watch that video here.

Rep. Canseco isn't alone.

Super committee member Hensarling is also having a tough month. When Hensarling was in a Dallas area country club to meet with the local Chamber of Commerce he pushed for continuing a path of budget cuts.

The most shocking of all was the downhill meeting Joe Barton had a few days ago. If you don't remember Joe Barton's apology to BP, you may remember him as the father of a former conservative candidate Bradley Barton who was recently arrested for DWI in a school zone.

Now conservative Barton is telling people that Fortune 500 companies have the right to send American jobs to the other side of the world. (check out the 1:50 mark on the video)

Not surprisingly, the crowd erupts in boos and hisses to the idea that corporations should be outsourcing jobs while America is in need. Of course, after the tough question, Barton appears to be done with the town hall and decides it is time to leave.

These conservatives are out of touch. They continue to ignore or avoid their constituents. All three of these elected officials advocate for special interest and corporations while ignoring folks in need. Government can solve our problems. Government can alleviate the burden we feel by providing a safety net we need in our darkest hours. Government is meant to help everyone and not just the ones with access, lobbyist or millions of dollars to donate to a candidate or political agenda. Clearly these three don't understand this belief.
