Rick Perry cut Pre-K for over 100,000 children

Rick Perry cut Pre-K for over 100,000 children.

Sadly, The Austin American Statesman's PolitiFact doesn't see it that way and they are wrong.

Progress Texas stands by the facts. Rick Perry supported the conservative budget that eliminated the Pre-K Early Start Grant. According to the Texas Education Agency, the Pre-K grant served over 100,000 children. Therefore, the conservative budget passed put Pre-K for over 100,000 children at risk throughout the state.

PolitiFact argues that because local counties are now shifting funds and raising taxes in a desperate effort to save Pre-K locally, Rick Perry's budget did not technically cut Pre-K.  Ridiculous.

This sort of logical fallacy is what Progress Texas is working hard to fight against. We need your help more than ever to let people know what a conservative budget means for Texas families. If you can take a few seconds and sign up for our Rapid Response team, we will let you know how you can make a difference and spread a progressive message across our state.  Members of our Rapid Response team will receive more frequent emails from Progress Texas and be asked to participate in coordinated online efforts to push the progressive narrative and fight back against conservative falsehoods.
