Update: Yesterday, after ranting for 21 hours on the Senate floor to protest the Affordable Care Act, Ted Cruz ended up voting for cloture. It passed 100-0. On Sunday Ted Cruz boldly proclaimed that “a vote for cloture is a vote for Obamacare.” Confused? So are his colleagues. From the New York Times:
Mr. Cruz’s “yes” vote angered fellow Senate Republicans, baffled Democrats and confused conservative activists who had mobilized to stand with him against any procedural step forward.
Ted Cruz just staged a long-winded rant on the floor of the US Senate to protest the Affordable Care Act. He even read Green Eggs and Ham - which, you'll recall, is a story about trying something you may not like and learning it's actually pretty good.
There’s no debating that health care coverage is good for you and your family. Healthy people can go to work, go to school, have fun on the weekend, and spend time with their family.
We need your help sharing this important information with your friends and family.
- Texas has the highest rate of uninsured people in America – a record held for 12 straight years. The 6.4 million lacking coverage amounts to 1 out of every 4 people in Texas.
- When the Affordable Care Act exchanges roll out on October 1st, the average monthly rate for a standard plan in Texas will be even less than the national average.
- The Dallas Morning News reports that 350,000 more Texans lacked healthcare coverage in 2012 than the year before. If that rate is the same this year, at an average of 959 per day and 40 per hour, we could estimate 840 may have lost coverage during Ted Cruz’s 21-hour rant.
The more people know these facts, the harder it is for Senator Cruz and the Tea Party to misinform the people of Texas.
Texas has an urgent need for the Affordable Care Act. Please share this important information with your networks!
